Call for Submissions: 2020 Creative Writing Prizes

Submissions are now open for the 2020 Creative Writing Prizes. Each spring the Department of English & Creative Writing awards cash prizes for undergraduate writing in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.

Please email your work as a PDF attachment by April 24, 2020 at 4 PM EST to english[dot]department[at]dartmouth[dot]edu. In your submission, please include a cover sheet indicating your name, your entry titles, and the prizes for which you would like your work considered. You may submit the same piece for multiple awards. You may submit multiple pieces, but please save them as one PDF. Fiction and creative nonfiction submissions are limited to one short story, or one nonfiction piece, or one chapter of a book length manuscript not to exceed 20 double-spaced typewritten pages along with a one-page synopsis of the book. Prize winners will be announced by May 21, 2020.

This year's judge is Carlos Andrés Goméz, author of the poetry collection Fractures (University of Wisconsin Press, 2020), the chapbook Hijito (Platypus Press, 2019), and the memoir Man Up: Reimagining Modern Manhood (Penguin Random House, 2012).

There is more information about this year's judge and the individual prizes on our website.
