Dr. Kimberly Juanita Brown is co-curator, along with Alisa Swindell, Dr. Thy Phu, and Dr. Iyko Day, of a new exhibition at the Hood Museum, entitled "Visual Kinship," which explores the connection between kinship and photography, and asks the question: How does photography both shape and disrupt the notion of family?
The exhibition runs from from August 30 to November 29, 2025, and features lensbased works from the Hood Museum's collection, loans from Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, a site-specific installation by artist Sim Chi Yin, and several works newly acquired by the Hood that will be on view for the first time at the museum.
