Two Readings Upcoming in April: April 1 & 10

The Department of English and Creative Writing is pleased to host two readings this April. Both readings are free and open to the public and begin at 4:30 pm. Email english.department@dartmouth.edu for questions or access needs. 

Poet Victoria Chang will read on April Fools' Day and Andre Dubus III's reading, rescheduled from this winter, will take place on April 10th.  Each event will feature a Q&A session and book signing after the reading. Dartmouth undergraduate students are eligible for a raffle of the authors' books. Please find out more information about each author below.

Victoria Chang's most recent book of poems is With My Back to the World, published in 2024 by Farrar, Straus & Giroux in the U.S. and Corsair/Little Brown in the U.K. It received the Forward Prize in Poetry for Best Collection. A few of her other books include The Trees Witness EverythingOBIT, and Dear Memory: Letters on Writing, Silence, and Grief. She has written several children's books as well. She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Chowdhury International Prize in Literature, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She is the Bourne Chair in Poetry at Georgia Tech and Director of Poetry@Tech.

Andre Dubus III's nine books include the New York Times' bestsellers House of Sand and FogThe Garden of Last Days, and his memoir, Townie. His most recent novel, Such Kindness, was published in June 2023, and a collection of personal essays, Ghost Dogs: On Killers and Kin, was published in March 2024. He is also the editor of Reaching Inside: 50 Acclaimed Authors on 100 Unforgettable Short Stories, (Godine, 2023.) Mr. Dubus has been a finalist for the National Book Award, and has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, The National Magazine Award for Fiction, three Pushcart Prizes, and is a recipient of an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature. His books are published in over twenty-five languages, and he teaches at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
