The English and Creative Writing Department will be hosting a three-day symposium September 21-23, 2022: Lineage and Redress: Robert Hayden's Uncompromising Vision. Robert Hayden's work was ahead of its time, but his vision was derided in his time. Scholars and Creative Artists will gather to discuss the man, the significance of his work, and Hayden's continuing impact upon poets writing today, particularly a group of poets rising from Hayden's hometown, Detroit, MI.
