New Review of Yanyi's The Year of Blue Water

The poet Darlene Silva Soberano has written a review of Yanyi's book The Year of Blue Water.

A year into the pandemic, the poet Darlene Silva Soberano has reviewed Yanyi's collection The Year of Blue Water for Meanjin Quarterly with an eye toward loneliness, friendship, and transmasculinity. Soberano writes, "The collection's epigraph is lifted from a Susan Sontag interview in which she says, 'Literature needs lots of people.' And in the first poem, Yanyi writes, 'I'm working on being alone.'"

Yanyi's book The Year of Blue Water won the Yale Younger Poets Prize in 2018. He will be teaching CRWT 40.13 "Queer and Trans Asian American Poetry" in the spring term. Please find this new review of his book here.
