The lessons that literature can hold for students as they go from Dartmouth into the world can be life-changing. I want students to recognize the cruciality of language in how we relate to ourselves and others. As a poet with seven books, I am devoted to the teaching of that genre. Equally important is the relationship poetry holds with other forms of literature, criticism, and all the arts.
