World War I, Red Cross Propaganda, and the Making of Ernest Hemingway

Professor Will explores the American Red Cross during World War I and its role in forming the modernism of Ernest Hemingway.

A. and R. Newbury Professor of English, Associate Dean of Arts and Humanities
Will specializes in twentieth-century literature, culture, and history, with a comparative emphasis upon Anglo-American and French modernism. She teaches core courses in these areas, as well as in literary and feminist theory and theories of cosmopolitanism. Her current book project considers how expatriate writers responded to the Vichy regime in France.
